Getting Some Miles.

I ended up doing some commission work through my friends local shop. It was for a Heroforge miniature that I was really unsure about working with, mostly to do with the quality and texture of the models. When I finally saw the model I was impressed enough to give it a try, I was also happy with the colors and how they wanted it to look. I haven't done any work for pay in a long time, and rare for me to actually finish anything these days.

I ended up attempting some green stuff work on the base, since it was a D&D character and would more then likely be dungeon bound.

I used my phone to get the pictures but it turned out really well. More importantly the customer really liked it.

Also I managed to finish most of the Imperial Assault models, some Dungeons and Dragons, and another chunk of the Decent models. So much more to go, maybe even some more commission work.

In Gear

Actually making a lot of progress with Descent and Imperial Assault models.  I need to work on the eyes some more with a few of these but its getting there.
I'm having a lot of fun with the Descent lieutenant's, but hopefully I can try and get a monster group done a week, along with a hero. Bol'Goreth is an amazing model, I just need to finish the base and details like finishing the shields. Trying to decide what to do on the all of the bases, sand or just paint dungeon tile?

Jump start

Actually back to painting, a lot. Imperial Assault and Decent has recharged my interest. More to follow.

A different gear.

I've manage to paint a lot, but never seem to finish much. I have recently picked up a lot of D&D minis and made a lot of progress. I bought a box set for 40k, painted and never played. I've pretty much shelved playing that game ever again. unhappy with the company and constant editions. Hopefully I'll paint the armies and sell a lot of it off in the future. Hoping when the weather cools off I can get a lot more painting done. I don't even know where these Dark Angel models ended up, painted them and misplaced them when I moved the desk. I'm rather overwhelmed with models and have left most of the stuff boxed up.

New start

A fresh start again, in a new place to live and paint. I seem to get back into the painting and slip back out so easily. I am having a hard time deciding what to paint and sticking with it. I was going to do the new 40k box set models, but I keep thinking about all those blood angels laying in boxes. I managed to get something done anyway, I will hopefully keep going on the western characters, they are rather fun and different. Still need to get the good camera out as well.

Back in the Saddle.....Again

Well I'm breaking out the paint again, and hopefully starting again. Hoping these Black Scorpion mini's are a good start. I have a couple blood angels I may dabble with as well. I'm still on the fence with 6th edition 40k, need to start reading this book for myself.

Slow week

Finally got my order from the Wargames Factory, and I have to admit I am impressed with their work for the price. its obvious to see how some of the kits have improved over time. The zombies are lacking detail, some of the vikings are great and some pieces still seem off. The shocktroops aren't bad, I would definitely use them if I was starting a guard army on the cheap side.
Threw a dusty guardsmen up to see how they compare.

Here's about 109 bucks worth of Wargames Factory plastic, I may have to stack up some GW sprues next week and compare.

Last Saturday I had a fun game with a newbie friend at a store on the west side, whenever I play at a local shop I feel compelled to make a purchase and support the store. So why not start army number seven with some Blood Angels? I intend to use a lot of old school models I have laying around to finish this force off. Going to do minimal magnet work, mostly on the backpacks and jump packs.

Almost done with the first test model, had some issues getting a red scheme I liked. Still poking along on the ogryn, and did some base colors on the scout bikers.

Off Road

So I got a lot started this week, with a little help from the new Iron Maiden CD, nice to plug in some music and just paint most of the day.
I have played around with a scout force in the past, and now I think I am going to try a crazy list. 4 drop pods full of dread's, 4 different scout units, 2 landspeeder storms, scout bikers, and a Master of the Forge HQ to name a few. Still working on some final touches and units to add, probably assault termi's as a hammer unit. I will probably lose a lot of games, but it will hopefully be tactical and fun to play for a well fought victory.

It didn't take me long to get the bikes together, going to try a small unit of 4. I will probably increase this after a few games if they manage to do anything at all. They will be a suicide unit, trying to get a position to call in the real beef.

I worked on a tac squad while I was waiting on the scouts to arrive, they will be used for a more normal list someday. Also worked on some designs for a sternguard unit.

Grabbed a bone'ead, love me some ogryns. I am impressed with the newer models, good detail and size. I would get more but I am full of old ones. Will probably compare my paint job over the years when this guy is done.

I really went off the reservation with some old foundry street violence miniatures in the back, they have a lot to do with the next package due in the mail.
Just realized I have a game Saturday and no idea what to take or time to get it together. Oh well back to work for the next couple days.

Lazy week

Not much done on the painting this week, side tracked with the Maiden concert and a game. Managed to get few more berserker/world eaters base coated. Started another objective marker, magnetized it if we ever bother to play Space hulk. I will probably finish up all the objective markers this weekend. If I don't get side tracked getting my FW stuff.

Check your mirrors.

Found my first GW model I ever painted, I'm guessing somewhere around 91-92. I think i used a mixture of oil and acrylic and sealed it with a rather glossy coat.
I had painted varios D&D mini's and some west end game star wars prior to this, but this was the beggining of a small eldar army for rogue trader and second edition.

shotgun effect

So a break from the blog but I have been busy, tried to stay on target but once again my shotgun blast hit more then one army to work on.
Yep, that looks like orks mixed in with some chaos I assembled. Finally got my second set of gas masks from Brokenforge, Phil was interested in seeing these painted up so I suppose I better get started.

Testing out the lights and camera settings once again, think I may go back to the natural light like I used on the vet's, the light was too close for these shots as well.

Almost finished with the urban veterans and command unit, went with a dark red bandanna to get some color in there. Working on a medic, and 2 demo charges to "throw" in from time to time.

With some days off, I plan to get some more done, and maybe get started on the second half of the table.
